You’ve Been Growing Mistletoe All Wrong!

Mistletoe Starts with a Berry

Pick a fresh, ripe mistletoe berry during winter. Gently squeeze out the seed—it’s sticky and ready to grow.

Choose a Tree

Mistletoe can’t live on its own. Find a healthy deciduous tree like apple, hawthorn, or oak.

Stick, Don’t Bury

Press the sticky seed onto a small branch or fork in the tree. Make sure it’s in sunlight—it won’t grow in shade.

Be Patient

Mistletoe grows slowly. You might see tiny shoots in 6–12 months. Full growth takes a few years, so stay patient!

Don’t Overdo It

Too much mistletoe can weaken your tree. Trim some of it if it spreads too much—balance is key!
